Now that Halloween has passed I feel like it's ok to go full on with festive preparations. Are you organised every year, or do you like to leave it until the last minute and dash around the shops, reaching through the crowds to grasp hold of the last starlight night light before they are gone forever and your kids hopes are dashed?
One of the things that can often be most stressful about Christmas is knowing what to wear. Now obviously for Christmas Day, I like to stay in my pyjamas until about midday, but then before lunch I like to dress up a little and feel special. There's also usually lots of get-togethers with friends before the 25th, some you haven't seen since last Christmas, it can be tricky when you want to so look good that everyone's jaws drop.
It can be easy to get carried away and assume that your outfit has to be head to toe sparkle. But not everyone feels comfortable in a million sequins. Well, I've had a look at Marks and Spencer's party outfit offerings and I've got some great options for you that don't have a sequin in sight, but that are equally as special, lovely and Christmassy.
Luckily for us M&S have some fabulous Christmas outfit contenders this year which won't break the bank, but will break the internet if you post your outfit on social media. I've had so many compliments about the outfits already from only a few sneak peeks on my insta stories.
First up is this deep burgundy velvet dress - it's a show stopper and I love it more and more every time I see it. Be aware that people may want to stroke you if you wear this dress. The rich colour makes it feels festive, but it's also not too glitzy that you could totally wear it all year round. Not restrictive at all, with a drawstring waist, this dress is perfect if you want to feel comfortable after eating the equivalent of a week's worth of food, which of course is the law in many households at Christmas.
I've paired it with some star socks so there's no chance of my toes feeling the cold and risking frostbite.
A black velvet midi skirt and green stretchy top with ruffle detail are great together but also the perfect pieces to mix and match with the rest of your wardrobe. Meaning that you can get lots of wears out of them whatever the season.
Lastly, this emerald green, high shine dress is the most exquisite looking item I think there is currently in my wardrobe. It looks and feels high end, and people wouldn't flinch if you told them it was mega expensive. It epitomises glamour, this outfit is absolutely perfect for that extra special occasion.
I wore it the weekend just gone for a party and had so many compliments. My mum tells me she had a very similar one in the 80's and she also thought she was the bee's knees when she wore it. So if it's good enough for her, my style icon, it's good enough for me.
Which look are you loving most?
